Tennessee: Corker in cabinet? “I’m in the mix” for a job in the Trump Administration, US Sen. Bob Corker (R) said yesterday in a CNBC interview. The most likely post would be secretary of state, since Corker chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee ……. Kentucky: Paul might oppose Giuliani or Bolton. US Sen. Rand Paul (R), a former presidential candidate and new member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is against an interventionist foreign policy. Yesterday he told the Washington Post that he leans toward opposing the appointment of either Rudy Giuliani or John Bolton as secretary of state. “It’s important that someone who was an unrepentant advocate for the Iraq War, who didn’t learn the lessons of the Iraq War, shouldn’t be the secretary of state for a president who says Iraq was a big lesson.” ……. North Carolina: Legislature unlikely to resolve governor’s race. Although the Tar Heel legislature has the authority to resolve a disputed election for state officials, House Speaker Tim Moore (R) said yesterday, “It is an absolute last resort for the General Assembly to be involved” in the current undecided governor’s race. Democrat Roy Cooper is 5,000 votes ahead of incumbent Gov. Pat McCrory (R). There are some 60,000 provisional ballots being tabulated, but Democrats cast more of them than Republicans, making Cooper’s election more likely, reports the News & Observer …….
