South Carolina: Haley for secretary of state? Gov. Nikki Haley (R) met with President-elect Donald Trump in New York yesterday amid reports that she is being considered for secretary of state. Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster (R) told Charleston’s Post & Courier that it would demonstrate “how Mr. Trump is bringing fresh eyes to running our government.” McMaster is also interested in a Trump Administration post, most likely attorney general ……. Texas: Cruz for attorney general? US Sen. Ted Cruz (R), who buried his grudge against The Donald and campaigned for him in the last days of the campaign, has also met with the president-elect. Cruz as attorney general is one possibility; the US Supreme Court is another, reports the Dallas Morning News ……. Florida: DCCC slams Mast. The Democrats have lost no time in waging the 2018 congressional campaigns. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee began its attack on freshman US Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) this week when DCCC spokesman Jermaine House issued a press release contending that Mast’s “failure to speak out against Steve Bannon’s appointment tells us that under President Trump all he’ll do is fall in line.” …….
