South Carolina: McMaster to succeed Haley. When Gov. Nikki Haley (R) leaves office to become the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster (R) will become governor of the Palmetto State. McMaster, a former state attorney general and former chairman of the state GOP, had already planned to run for governor in 2018, the office he sought unsuccessfully in 2010 ……. Alabama: Sewell comments on Sessions. US Rep. Terri Sewell (D) issued a statement on the selection of US Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) to become US Attorney General. “I hope to work productively with [Sessions] in his new position… While we do not agree on many important social justice issues, Senator Sessions and I have enjoyed a productive working relationship on economic development issues.” …….
