U.S. Senator David Perdue on Tuesday announced his committee assignments for the upcoming 115th Congress, and his lineup is shaken up a bit from his first go-around in Washington D.C.
Perdue has added the Armed Services and Banking Committees to his resume, two powerful positions especially with a new Republican President soon to be sworn in. Perdue had named Armed Services as one of the two committees he was most interested in serving on while initially running for office, (along with Agriculture) but did not receive the position in 2014.
Said the Senator on those appointments in particular, “Georgia has a long tradition of representation on both the Senate Armed Services and Agriculture committees. I am humbled to carry on this legacy and will make it my priority to promote our Georgia values on these key committees.”
The Senator will remain on the Agriculture and Budget Committees, two more influential spots in the Senate roster. Georgia has long had a Senator prominently featured in the Agriculture Committee, and Perdue will continue to carry on that tradition representing one of the nation’s premiere agricultural producing states.
Off the Senator’s list are Aging, and Foreign Relations, two committees that while important, are considered by many to be a step below Armed Services and Banking. Perdue is clearly rapidly moving up the Senatorial ranks and his early support of President-elect Donald Trump looks to be paying dividends with his second round of appointments.
