Despite Republican pressure for Senate confirmation votes on three more nominees, the chamber adjourned early for the week on Tuesday after confirming Nikki Haley as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations.
Haley sailed to confirmation on a 96-4 vote. But Democrats did not bow to GOP calls for Tuesday votes on other Trump Cabinet picks who cleared committees earlier in the day before the Senate ended its week early to accommodate both parties’ policy retreats.
