Alabama: Sessions plays key role. US Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) has played a key role in the rapid fire series of Executive Orders coming out of the White House, says the Washington Post in a front page story. The Post, in its typical hostile voice to all things Trump, describes Sessions as a “Senate backbencher” who supports “a nationalist agenda long on the fringes of American life,” which includes fearing free trade, international alliances and “the immigration of nonwhites.” He is expected to be confirmed as Attorney General ……. Kentucky: McConnell wants united GOP. In an interview with The Hill, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) said, “The only way you can achieve success in an environment like now, where there’s not much bipartisanship, is for us to have our act together and to work out our differences among ourselves.” ……. Tennessee: Green raises green. State Sen. Mark Green (R), the first candidate to file for the 2018 governor’s race in the Volunteer state, raised $47,500 in the reporting period ending in mid-January. Green, who has some Tea Party support, raised money for Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign and later led Trump’s General Election campaign in the state …….
