Oklahoma: Cole says Trump effective. Appearing on ABC News, US Rep. Tom Cole (R) said, “This president has decided he’s going to get things done. He’s going to be a lot more effective than most people give him credit for.” ……. Mississippi: Cochran would expand exports to Cuba. US Sen. Thad Cochran (R) this week announced that he is co-sponsoring a bill which would allow private credit to finance the sale of US agricultural products to Cuba. Currently, Cuban buyers must pay upfront with cash. US Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) is one of the prime sponsors of the bipartisan legislation ……. Louisiana: Edwards calls for special session. Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) has issued an official call for a special session of the legislature to deal with a $304 million shortfall in the state’s budget, reports The Advocate. The session will begin on Feb. 13 and end on Feb. 22. The session will not include the option of raising taxes, but some fees may be increased. In addition, Edwards wants the Republican-controlled legislature to take $119 million from the state’s Rainy Day Fund to help strapped state agencies …….
