Texas: Cornyn takes issue with Trump on judges. In response to President Trump’s reference to a “so-called judge,” US Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said, “Anytime you lose a decision in court it’s never fun, but I never felt like it ought to be personal because no matter how mistaken, I think judges are basically just trying to do their jobs.” …….Virginia: Gillespie talks faith at Liberty U. Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie spoke to some 15,000 students at Liberty University this week. Gillespie, an Irish Catholic, said “the truth is, I was not raised to talk about my personal relationship with our savior, Jesus Christ. Happily, over time that’s become more comfortable for me,” reported the Washington Post ……. Florida: Curbelo, Cousteau support ocean conservation. US Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R) of Florida’s 26th District (Miami-Dade, etc.) and environmentalist Philippe Cousteau wrote a joint op-ed in The Hill. Noting that “in many ways” they were in different political camps, the pair added, “We both care deeply about something that transcends our differences – the importance of our oceans to communities across the country.” Curbelo is the founder and co-chair of the Climate Solutions Caucus …….
