Georgia: Ossoff edges Handel in new poll. In the special congressional contest in Georgia’s 6th District (Atlanta suburbs), it’s 18.31% for Jon Ossoff (D), film producer, and 17.98% for Karen Handel (R), former secretary of state, according to a new poll by the Trafalgar Group. Johns Creek city councilman Bob Gray (R) was third with 13.42% and state Sen. Judson Hill (R) fourth with 7.98%. Other contenders had about 3% or less ……. Florida: Bishop slams Gillum. Barney Bishop, a Tallahassee-based political analyst and self-described conservative Democrat, in a column for Sunshine State News, notes that a complaint against Mayor Andrew Gillum (D) has resulted in a state attorney asking the Leon County sheriff to investigate Gillum’s misuse of city funds to send emails that were essentially political. Gillum is a candidate for governor ……. Tennessee: Corker waffles on Trump budget. While acknowledging “the Trump administration’s effort to cut waste and encourage efficiency” in its proposed budget, US Sen. Bob Corker (R), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, noted that “until the president and Congress are willing to address the real drivers of our debut – Medicare and Social Security – we will be complicit in shackling future generations” with a financial burden …….
