North Carolina: Burr says Comey’s dismissal “a loss.” US Sen. Richard Burr (R), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee which is investigating Russia’s involvement in the US election, said yesterday that the firing of FBI Director James Comey “is a loss for the Bureau and the nation.” He also said, “Director Comey has been more forthcoming with information than any FBI director I can recall,” reports the News & Observer ……. Oklahoma: Close, but no cigar. Democrats had hoped for a victory in a special election to fill a vacancy in the state House of Representatives, but Republican Zack Taylor eked by a victory, with 50.48% to Democrat Steve Barnes 48.16%; Libertarian Cody Presley had 1.36% ……. Florida: Jeb Bush Jr. for Congress? The Miami Herald reports that South Florida GOPers are approaching Jeb Bush Jr., son of the popular former governor, to run for the 27th District congressional seat being vacated by US Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R). Also being courted, says the paper, is Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera (R). It would take a major GOP figure to hold the seat, which Hillary Clinton carried handily …….
