Georgia: Fallout from 6th District race favors Trump agenda. The Hill newspaper ran a front-page story yesterday contending that the GOP win in Georgia 6, coming on top of Republican victories in three other special elections, “has handed President Trump and his party a much-needed boost to move a healthcare bill and perhaps more of their stalled legislative agenda.” Stay tuned! ……. Kentucky/Louisiana: Senators still “not ready” to vote for healthcare bill. US Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), along with two other Republican senators, released a statement that while they are not ready to support the Senate healthcare bill released yesterday, they are “open to negotiation” before it comes to the Senate floor, probably sometime next week ……. Democrats: Record number of candidates. As of Monday, 489 Democratic US House candidates had filed with the Federal Election Commission, compared to 190 at this point in 2015.
