South Carolina: Haley says Trump prevented chemical attack. Testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said that surveillance had shown the same type of activity in Syriathat occurred before Bashar Assad ordered the earlier chemical attack. She added that after President Trump warned Syria such an attack would bring an even stronger reaction, “[W]e did not see an incident… So I would like to think that the president saved many innocent men, women and children,” reported The Hill ……. Texas: Perry study to identify obstacles to fossil fuels. A report initiated by Energy Secretary Rick Perry and to be released in the near future, reports The Hill, “is aimed at identifying government regulations and policies that… improperly favor renewable energy over traditional fuels like coal and nuclear.” ……. Virginia: Perriello to head new PAC. Former US Rep. and former candidate for governor Tom Perriello (D) will head a new political action committee called “Win Virginia” which aims to help Democrats take control of the House of Delegates. The group starts off with $260,000 from four donors, three from Virginia and one from California, reports the Washington Post. Of note: Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D), who defeated Perriello in the June primary, had the support of every single Democrat in the House of Delegate. If Perriello runs for statewide office again, will “Win Virginia” help him win support from lawmakers? Stay tuned …….
