Georgia: Fitzgerald named CDC director. Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald, the Peach State’s Public Health Commissioner, has been named the next director of the Centers for Disease Control, a crucial position in preventing and tracking infectious diseases. Fitzgerald is currently the president-elect of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, reports the Washington Post. Fitzgerald also has strong ties to HHS Secretary Tom Price and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich ……. North Carolina: Meadows says Trump wants The Wall. US Rep. Mark Meadows (R), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of staunch conservatives, says that his conversations with President Trump “have led me to believe that there is nothing less than a full and total commitment on his part to only sign into law a funding bill that actually allows for us to start construction of a border wall on our southern border,” reports The Hill ……. Texas: One county gave Hillary only five votes. King County, near Lubbock, gave Hillary Clinton the lowest number of votes of any county in the nation, reports The Hill, citing its Changing America series. The county gave Donald Trump 149 votes.  In 1960, with LBJ on the ticket with JFK, the Democrats carried the county with 77% of the vote. The times they are a-changing …….
