Florida: GOP attacks Wasserman Schultz. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has run an online ad bashing US Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) for not firing IT staffer Imran Awan, when other House members did, after he was accused of data theft. NRCC spokesman Matt Gorman told Sunshine State News, “Scandals, lies and corruption define Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s entire congressional career.” She won reelection last year 57% to 41% ……. Texas: Supremes stay federal court redistricting order. A three-judge federal panel declared that two congressional districts were gerrymandered by discriminating against minority voters, but the US Supreme Court imposed a temporary stay on the court order ……. Tennessee: Beavers resigning. State Sen. Mae Beavers (R) is resigning from the state Senate to devote full time to her campaign for governor. Beavers, a Tea Party favorite, says she hopes that voters “will elect a conservative Republican statewide for the first time in Tennessee’s history,” reported The Tennessee Journal …….
