Tennessee: Cornyn, et al, warm to bump stocks ban. US Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and most other congressional Republicans are coming to the view that a federal ban on bump stocks, a device which turns a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic one, should be considered in response to the shooting massacre in Las Vegas, reports Slate ……. Virginia: Northam widens lead over Gillespie. It’s 53% for Democrat Ralph Northam to 40% for Republican Ed Gillespie, according to a Washington Post-ScharSchool poll released yesterday. This is the first recent survey to show Northam above 50% ……. Alabama: Moore snubs GOP officialdom. Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore, a stauncher-than-thou social conservative, came to Washington on Wednesday, but did not meet with anyone in the White House nor with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.  In a hastily scheduled meeting for Wednesday night, Moore did meet with US Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), chairman of the National Senatorial Campaign Committee, which doles out campaign funds. Moore, however, did meet with former White House aide, and Briebart News guru, Steve Bannon …….
