Virginia: Trump tweets for Gillespie. “Ralph Northam, who is running for governor ofVirginia, is fighting for the violent MS-13 killing gangs & Sanctuary cities. Vote Ed Gillespie!” tweeted President Trump in his first involvement in this year’s gubernatorial race. Gillespie, who has tried to win votes from both the Trump loyalists and moderates, told the Washington Post, “we did not request a tweet, and I didn’t know a tweet was coming.” ……. Tennessee: Corker decries GOP’s fiscal retreat. “It is very disheartening to me that when the other side of the aisle was in charge we cared about fiscal issues, and now that we’re in charge, we don’t care about fiscal issues,” fiscal conservative USSen. Bob Corker (R) told the Washington Post. Corker’s remark came in a discussion of Republican budget proposals that could add $1.5 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years ……. Louisiana: Jefferson out of prison. A federal judge has vacated seven of the ten corruption charges against former US Rep. William Jefferson and released him from prison. Judge T. S. Ellis III made the ruling in light of the Supreme Court decision last year that overturned the conviction of former Gov. Robert McDonnell (R-VA) on public corruption charges. Jefferson may be sentenced again based on the three remaining charges …….
