Alabama: Moore, Jones tied. It’s 42% for Republican Roy Moore, 42% for Democrat Doug Jones, according to a Fox News poll taken in mid-October. Voters were also split on President Trump, with 48% viewing him positively to 47% viewing him negatively, reports The Hill ……. Florida: Trump calls Wilson “wacky.” After US Rep. Frederica Wilson (D) accused him of disrespecting the mother of a soldier killed in Niger, President Trump tweeted, “I hope the Fake News Media keeps taking about Wacky Congresswoman Wilson” because she “is killing the Democrat Party.” ……. Tax: Cigarette taxes lowest in South. Eight of the 13 states with the lowest taxes on cigarettes are in the South. So are seven of the states with the highest rates of smoking. The reason, says the Washington Post, is primarily strong lobbying by tobacco companies …….
