Oil and gas: Trump to sell Gulf petroleum leases. President Trump’s Interior Department announced on Tuesday that it will make available 77 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico for the sale of oil and natural gas leases. This is the largest sale ever offered by the United States, says the Washington Post. The first sales, in March, will include acreage off Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The move should appeal to all of these states, except Florida, where fears of beach pollution outweigh other considerations ……. Florida: Gaetz ponders tax bill. With congressional leaders looking for some $1.5 trillion in revenue &/or spending cuts to finalize the pending tax bill, US Rep. Matt Gaetz (R), commenting on the lack of details available, quipped “I was watching Indiana Jones the other night, and I sort of feel like this tax bill is like the Ark of the Covenant. It must be so magnificent that if we actually laid our eyes on it, it world eviscerate all of us.” ……. Tennessee: Corker continues feud with Trump. “I think at the end of the day, when his term is over, I think the debasing of our nation, the constant non-truth-telling, the name calling … the debasing of our nation will be what he will be remembered most for, and that’s regretful,” Corker told CNN’s Manu Raju, reports The Hill …….
