Tennessee: Corker’s approval rating slips. US Sen. Bob Corker’s (R) approval rating was down to 45% in mid-October compared with a springtime rating of 51%, according to a poll taken by Middle Tennessee State University survey. The survey was taken after Corker’s first big break with President Trump, but before his second bout with the President. Corker, meanwhile, is pondering a presidential bid in 2020 ……. Kentucky: Judge resigns over gay issues. Judge W. Mitchell Nance recused himself when faced with a case involving gay adoption, saying it contradicted his religious beliefs. The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups, reported the Washington Post, had filed a complaint with a state commission over his refusal to hear a gay adoption case ……. Florida: Wilson stays home over threats. US Rep. Frederica Wilson (D), who got in a high-profile dispute with President Trump over his condolence call to the widow of a service member killed in Niger, missed votes in Washington last week, deciding to stay in her Miami district instead. A spokeswoman said she was concerned “about her safety” after receiving what the Washington Post called “a wave of threats against her.” …….
