Florida: Brown sentenced to prison. Former US Rep. Corrine Brown (D), who represented Jacksonville in Congress from 1993 to 2017, was sentenced yesterday to five years in prison for stealing money from One Door For Education, reports Sunshine State News, a fake charity she set up to give scholarships to poor children, but instead was used for personal needs for Brown and her friends, ……. Tennessee: Corker on tax reform measure. US Sen. Bob Corker, the lone Republican senator to vote against the tax reform legislation, in a statement issued after last week’s vote, said “My concern about the impact a rapidly growing $20 trillion national debt will have on our children and grandchildren has been a guiding principle throughout my time in public office… I wanted to get to yes. But at the end of the day, I am not able to cast aside my fiscal concerns…” ……. North Carolina: Cooper has VW money to combat air pollution. The state of North Carolina will receive some $92 million from Volkswagen as part of its settlement for its use of fake pollution controls.  The money must be used to reduce pollution from “cars, trucks, trains, boats or other moving vehicles,” reports the News & Observer.
