Texas: Passenger says airline bumped her for congresswoman. Jean-Marie Simon says that United Airlines bumped her from her First Class seat, which was then given to US Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D), reported the Houston Chronicle. The airline apologized and said its records showed Simon had cancelled her flight from Houston to Washington,DC. Jackson Lee said she asked for no special treatment ……. South Carolina: Haley fooled by fake interviewer. When a phone call to UN Ambassador Nikki Haley purported to be from the prime minister ofPoland, Haley said of Russia, “They are aggressive and they can be difficult” to work with in the Security Council, reported The State. She almost got fooled about the made-up new nation of “Binomo,” before responding, “Let me find out exactly what our stance is on that.” The interview was posted by Russian pranksters with a history of such “interviews” with European leaders ……. Arkansas: Hutchinsonhumbled. Recalling an “unscheduled encounter,” in a column in the Magnolia Reporter, Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) reported he recently shook hands with a man who asked, “What are you doing these days?” The man’s wife responded, “Honey, this is the governor of Arkansas.” Such incidents, wrote Hutchinson, “brighten my days, enlighten me and entertain me, although some are downright humbling.” …….
