Arkansas: Cotton says robots reduce need for immigrants. US Sen. Tom Cotton (R), who helped kill a bipartisan immigration deal in Congress, tweeted in late January, “It can’t simultaneously be true that robots will take all the jobs & that the West needs millions of new immigrants to do the grunt work.” The tweet, from a Wall Street Journal column, was reported in the Washington Post ……. Florida: Poll shows close races in both gubernatorial primaries. In a poll by Gravis Marketing, on the Republican side, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam got 18%, US Rep. Ron DeSantis 16% and state House Speaker 3%. For the Democrats, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham and Miami Beach Philip Levine each drew 12%, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Graham 9% and businessman Chris King 2% ……. Texas: Cruz gaining friends among Trump backers. In a Washington Times report, several important grass-roots activists who volunteered for the Trump campaign in 2016 say they feel betrayed because President Trump has backed compromises on immigration and even tax reform. “He’s turning his back on the people who put him in office,” said Maryland conservative Sue Payne …….
