Florida: Nelson leads Scott. It’s 46% for reelecting US Sen. Bill Nelson (D) to 42% for potential challenger Gov. Rick Scott (R), according to a late February poll by Quinnipiac University. Nelson wins the support of 87% of Democrats while Scott gets 86% of Republicans. Independents, however, go for Nelson 45% to 33%, reports Sunshine State News ……. Tennessee: Barry denounces nude photo reports. Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, stung by revelations that she had an affair with one of her bodyguards, now confronts reports that investigators found nude photos of the mayor on the guard’s cell phone, reports The Tennessee Journal. “While I have not see the photos in question, if they were of me, they were taken without my knowledge or permission and a complete invasion of privacy,” said the mayor ……. Texas: Abbott says GOP needs a new “tone” with Hispanic voters. Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who garnered 44% of the Latino vote when he was elected in 2014, told The Hill, “One thing we know in Texas is that tone matters. Everybody deserves to be respected… We constantly are involved in the letting the Hispanic community know that they are an essential, vital component to the future of Texas.” …….
