Texas: Maher uses expletive to describe Cruz; O’Rourke agrees. Bill Maher, a liberal late-night talk show host, was interviewing Texas Democratic US Senate nominee Beto O’Rourke Friday night. Maher referred to Cruz as “a giant a**hole,” to which O’Rourke replied, “That’s true,” reported The Daily Caller ……. Florida: Ft. Lauderdale elects openly gay mayor. City Commissioner Dean Trantalis, the son of Greek immigrants, won a runoff in a landslide for the job of mayor of Ft. Lauderdale. Trantalis is openly gay, which did not become an issue until his opponent sent out a doctored photograph of Trantalis in “flamboyant clothing and make-up,” reported The Pappas Post. Joking that this was an outfit he would never wear, Trantalis said the campaign was about “infrastructure and traffic and overdevelopment and the homeless” ……. Virginia: Northam backs Wexton. There are seven, yes seven, Democrats running for the nomination to challenge US Rep. Barbara Comstock (R), but Gov. Ralph Northam (D) has endorsed state Sen. Jennifer Wexton (D) in the upcoming primary. The other six have some serious credentials, but Northam’s support should help Wexton, since he carried Northern Virginia’s 10th District with ease last November …….
