Texas: Coalition challenges DACA. A seven-state coalition led by the Lone Star State yesterday filed a lawsuit in federal court in south Texas yesterday, contending that President Obama’s amnesty for children brought here in violation of the law was illegal. The coalition would give “Dreamers” two years before leaving the US but would forbid new DACA permits or renewals ……. North Carolina: A group of conservative lawmakers in the US House of Representatives, led by House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC), has drafted articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, reports the Washington Post, in an effort to block special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. The group is at odds with the House GOP leadership, which wants to allow Mueller to finish his probe ……. Kentucky: Paul, Trump may agree on Afghanistan withdrawal. “I think the President’s instincts and inclination are to resolve the Afghan conflict,” US Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a strong non-interventionist, told the Washington Post, noting also that Trump said, “in general we’re getting the hell out of there.” Paul’s interview came after a number of telephone conversations with the President during the week leading up to the vote on the confirmation of then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state.
