Oklahoma: Pruitt’s hot water gets hotter. “Send Mr. Pruitt packing,” read the headline of the admittedly left-wing Washington Post lead editorial yesterday. The renewed criticism of the embattled EPA Administrator came as revelations that Richard Smotkin, a lobbyist who helped ‘broker’ Pruitt’s $100,000 trip to Morocco, later signed a $40,000-a-month contract with the Moroccan government ……. North Carolina: McCready wouldn’t vote for Pelosi. Dan McCready, a Democratic congressional candidate in the 9th District, told the Washington Post, “I’ve said since Day One that I wouldn’t vote for Nancy Pelosi as speaker.” McCready, 34, is one of a number of Democratic challengers who are distancing themselves from the aging leadership: Pelosi is 78, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer is also 78 and Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn (SC) is 77 ……. Virginia: Diversity rules. For the first time, Virginia voters have elected Asian Americans to public office. In the recent election for city council, two Korean Americans, So Lim and Sang Yi, won vacant seats on the council. Lim is a local insurance company owner and Yi is a congressional staff director. Korean Americans make up a substantial portion of Fairfax City’s electorate …….
