Tennessee:  Corker calls talks an opportunity. Appearing last week on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” US Sen. Bob Corker (R), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called the US talks with North Korea “a great opportunity for our nation, and I hope it goes well. [Mike] Pompeo is the right guy to be Secretary of State right now while that’s happening.” ……. South Carolina: Filibuster defeats anti-abortion bill. Democrats in the Palmetto State’s Senate took to the floor and kept speaking in opposition to a bill that would ban most abortions in the state. State Sens. Marlon Kimpson, Margie Bright Matthews and Mike Fanning, one following the other, spoke until 1am, when the Senate finally voted 24-21 to send the bill back to committee, effectively killing the bill for this session ……. Florida: Putnam, Graham endorsed. The Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA), 28,000 members strong, last week endorsed state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. The PGA also endorsed former US Rep. Gwen Graham for the Democratic nomination for governor. Meanwhile, the Florida Chamber of Commerce gave its endorsement to Putnam for governor …….
